High Tech Equipment and Procedures Greatly Improve Smile Makeovers

07/29/2009

The newest and most important technical advances are always available at the Beverly Hills office of Los Angeles cosmetic dentist, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi. These advanced procedures and tools give his patients better and more precise results.

For example, digital x-ray sensors are used instead of conventional photographic film with digital radiography – a form of x-ray imaging which has 90% less radiation, is employed in every room in this sophisticated dental office. Resulting in a quicker and more convenient appointment for the patient, digital x-rays also provide the dentist office with a more complete and thorough perception of the condition of each tooth.

Cosmetic dental care has become something that is done not only when vital or necessary; it has actually become socially expected when people are at the top of their field. Yet, a concern over the outcome of procedures is valid. What if they have the work done and then don’t like the result?

Digital Cosmetic Imaging is the answer to this predicament. The doctor and the patient access a computerized split-image screen of the patient’s smile, showing before and after views of the work to be done, and the outcome is chosen by selecting different choices – before the work is done!

Dr. Maddahi uses this imaging system to assist him and his patients to establish the best-looking outcome for that patient. The left side of the screen displays the current smile, and on the right side is a digital simulation of what their smile will look like after their procedure.

Most dental work requires some amount of anesthesia. As a matter of fact, most often, the discomfort of a trip to the dentist is the pain and distress of the administration of the Novocain and the lingering effect of the anesthesia after the appointment is long over.

Dr. Maddahi has resolved this situation with a high-tech device, the Citoject. This pen-shaped device precisely numbs only the tooth, and not the nearby cheek, tongue, face or lips. Therefore the anesthetic injection is effectively painless.

Another important advancement used in Dr. Maddahi’s office is the Digital Bite Recorder. This computerized bite sensor shows the dentist exactly which tooth hits first and the amount of pressure being exerted, using digital technology. This instrument replaces the use of dark blue “articulation paper” and circumvents any need for multiple adjustments. It provides the data for a stable bite the first time, every time.

The addition of laser dentistry in his office has given Dr. Maddahi numerous new applications using the laser. It can be used for soft tissue surgery, curing, and sterilizing, all with the advantages of no, or little, anesthetic needed for this procedure.

The laser is also used by the hygienists in Dr. Maddahi’s office, to eradicate periodontal disease caused by bacteria. More effective and less traumatic than conventional methods, the laser uses the power of light to vaporize soft tissue without bleeding. The precision of laser dentistry helps the patient heal with the least post-operative pain.

Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi, ensures he stays abreast of all new technical advances in dentistry, to simplify and improve his patient care in cosmetic dentistry and routine dental procedure.
